Sleepless in Seattle, Here's the Story

I am sleepless because I'M TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!! It's just like that Disney World commercial. Seriously, though, I have been restless at night and waking up super early thinking about all of the people I want to call. Thinking, 'What will my colors be?', 'What songs shall we play?', 'Oh I can't wait until we can all dance to Madonna's Like a Prayer'. I want to call Mike in the middle of the night to ask his input, but so far I have managed to let the poor boy sleep. After all, he has worked very hard this week! So HERE IS THE STORY!! This past weekend (Nov 3-4) I was taking a PALS (pediatric advanced life support) class, and then on Tuesday I had a pathology test. I was a little mentally stressed, and I am sure not tons of fun to be around. Well, Mike invited me over for dinner Wednesday night to just relax after the previous couple of days. I got to his place, walked in, and this is what I saw....
Yes, I started trembling immediately. All of the little things on the table have significance to us. There are pictures and trinkets from our trips to London, Paris and the wineries of Lake Chelan. He had me open a card which talked about the many wonderful times we've had and just how good God is to us. The last sentence read, 'There is one more memory I would like to add to our growing list.. please follow the rose petals to the bedroom.' Yes, by now I am crying as well as trembling.

So I get into his room, and he is standing there looking all cute and nervous. I see that he has 'Marry Me' written in rose petals across his dresser. He got down on one knee and proposed. I said 'of course of course, a thousand times yes' (again through many tears), and then he put the most gorgeous diamond ring on my finger. I've been doing exercises to strengthen my left hand. Otherwise, there is no way, I'd be able to keep it on!

I cried some more, and then called my parents. They knew it was coming (they can keep a secret very well!), but they didn't know it was going to be Wednesday Nov 7! After we called people, Mike made dinner! He had gone down to the Pike Place Market and picked up a delicious fresh Halibut steak (it's in season), asparagus, fresh bread, and goat cheese. (He knows how much I love goat cheese). He also had a bottle of my favorite wine on hand. This boy did not miss any details. How am I the luckiest girl ever?

This is us grinning from ear to ear. WE ARE ENGAGED!!!!! We are getting married! It's very very very surreal, and I don't think it has set in yet. (For me at least. He has been planning this for quite some time, so it feels more real to him!) Like I said before, I have been daydreaming about the 'wedding day' constantly since Wednesday. We are thinking a fall wedding, so I will need lots of help planning. I can guarantee though, that I am so blessed to have this amazing man by my side forever. I mean look at him, could he be any more adorable. I will keep you updated on the story. I am still grinning from ear to ear. Thanks for bearing with my babbling. And by the way, I just read through this to proof read, and I am teared up again. Waterworks Mcgee here, signing off.

BIG NEWS

I am ENGAGED! Wow. It happened last night, and I am still speechless. The only thing I have accomplished today is a smile. It is all so incredibly exciting! God is so good, and He has blessed me with the companion (husband!) of a lifetime. We took pictures, so I will get those and the story posted this weekend!

Babies Babies Everywhere!

And this is NEVER a bad thing. I have realized that I am entering in to this new phase of my life.. more of my friends are getting married, and people my age are having babies! SO FUN! I know that people moan and groan about getting older, but so far I quite like it. By and far year 25 has been just one breathtaking moment after another, and there are events already planned for 2008 that will make it wonderful as well! I want to show you the little miracles that have come along recently.
I promised pictures of little Abby Rose as soon as I had them. She entered the world last Wednesday, Oct 31 at 9:15pm. I think she is less than a day old here! The good news is she already has 3 pairs of boots. This is one lucky little girl!

Baby Abby with Grandma and Grandpa Wright.

This is Delaney Lynn Schuster. She was born to Steve and Trish Schuster on September 12th. They now live in Phoenix where Steve just started his residency at Mayo Clinic. Steve, of course, is a good family friend of both Mike and myself. I think they are calling her 'Laney' for short. So cute!

Delaney at about 7 weeks. Happy Halloween!

This is Marilyn Kelly Dichsen. She is the daughter of Karen and Adam Dischen. Karen is formerly Karen Dodson, sister of my dear friend Kim. Marilyn was born in Chicago on June 6th. She is 5 months old today!

Anne Geddes meets Marilyn Dichsen. They call her 'Sweet Pea', and so her grandma made this little sweet pea Halloween costume!

Mike's niece and nephew, Carson and Olivia. Yes, you are right, they could not be any more cute!
The Nieders family. L-R. Carson, Dax, Olivia, Lindsey (Mike's sister). They seem to be just the perfect little family! Mike and I try to learn as much as we can from them.
